How many of you reading this are aware that there are people sitting in prison for crimes they didn’t commit? I guess I knew but I never imagined I’d be one of them.
Hi. My name’s Kurtis and when I was nineteen, I was captured after three of my “friends” assaulted a man who died nearly one month later. Refusing to cooperate, I was charged with Capital Murder though it was uncontested that I didn’t know about the assault, was not present and could not have prevented it.
I refused to cooperate with authorities and was unwilling to say what “they” wanted me to say. This angered them because they wanted to use me as a tool to destroy a political movement they despised. My three “friends” on the other hand were ready to play the harlot in exchange for lenient sentence.
Using a little known law of accomplice liability and misapplying a “gang/hate: statute combined with governmental deceit, I was sentence to live without parole.
The lead prosecutor on my case came out in my defense, she was fired and sued the prosecutor’s office and was awarded $3 million+. While my co-defendants get to go home to their families, I sit in maximum security prison torn from my family and friends.
Even so, I remain steadfast in my faith that Truth will prevail. Maybe your reading this will play a part in that.
I’ve used this time wisely. I’ve successfully completed courses in Adult Continued Education, Theology, and Koine Greek. I’ve become a published writer on topics of prison reform, race and religion and I am an accomplished artist.
Documentation proving my innocence, pictures, artwork and published writing available @ http://www.cisprisonoutreach.com/free_kurtis_monschke.php.
Here’s to making new friends. I look forward to hearing from you. Don’t do anything I wouldn’t enjoy.
